Jurassic Forest

Jurassic Forest is located just north of Gibbons Alberta and opened July 2010.  It is a privately funded and operated 40-acre exhibition of prehistoric life presented in a modern day forest.  Fun for the entire family, Jurassic Forest has a children's play area, a north and south trail with excellent informative signage and mechanical dinosaurs, a store, picnic area and concession.  We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  Posted here are a few choice photos to entice you to visit this wonderland of prehistoria.

See http://www.jurassicforest.com/index.php for admission rates and hours of operation.

  1. Where was this place when I was a kid? I was crazy for dinosaurs for a while. I would have loved this place.

  2. James, I know! We have the Drumheller museum a few hours away but nothing like this before. The dinosaurs are mechanical and every few minutes they will move their heads, tails or wings and "roar".

J Bar, It is great! I wish my kids were little again so I could take them and experience their wonderment with it all!

  4. Tracy, it is a fun and educational exhibition! So far it is a huge hit and will remain open year round. The mechanical dinosaurs are treated with a coating to help them withstand all elements of the weather. If you are in the area plan to make a trip out to see it! Kids love it!!!

  5. I love this! Thanks for the comment on the living cathedral, but now if Italy should ever have something of this sort, you know that I'll be sure to get there.

  7. I loved dinosaurs when I was a kid. We don't have a lot of exhibits like this in the Philippines though. My favorite one was short-lived, but it involved mechanical dinosaurs.
