Edmonton Elections

My husband and I arrived shortly after polls opened this morning to exercise our right to vote.  No line-ups this early, what a relief.  We provide our ID, receive instruction and off we got to our station to mark the spot.  All votes are collected and counted by computer.  How clever is that?

Every vote counts.

Afterall, how can you complain about the government if you don't vote?

Today we select a Mayor, a Councillor for our ward (residential area within the city), and a candidate for School Board Trustee (public or Catholic).  Have you voted yet?  Polls close at 8pm.  Not sure where to cast your ballot?  See www.edmonton.ca/election

With Gusto!!

I had the loveliest note of support from a reader who just discovered my gardening blog http://shirley-agardenerslife.blogspot.com/.  Bill sent me this link to our national anthem being sung by Oilers fans.  They sang with so much gusto, the performer raised his mike to the crowd and let them sing it!  Check it out below.  Thanks Bill.

PS  Go Oilers Go!!!

Weekend Reflections

This photo was captured in downtown Edmonton.  I was on the 24th floor of my son's apartment building and of course had my camera at hand.  Mirrored buildings make great subjects for photography, particularly when surrounded by other interesting architecture.
