Celebrate Canada Day in Edmonton

Celebrate Canada’s 144th birthday in Edmonton by joining in on some of the many free family events taking place around the city.  End the day by watching the spectacular Canada Day fireworks finale in the river valley.

City Hall & Plaza

Time: 11:30am – 4pm
Show off your Canadian pride by celebrating our nation's birthday with free Canada Day activities at City Hall.  Enjoy the live entertainment, crafts, face painting, petting zoo, City Hall tours and displays.  A Canada Day ceremony will take place at noon in the City Room. 

Canada Day at the Edmonton Valley Zoo

Time: 9:30am – 6pm 
Celebrate Canada Day and the Edmonton Valley Zoo’s 52nd birthday!  Visit the Canadian animals, eat a slice of birthday cake, and enjoy a wonderful mix of family activities and entertainment. Visithttp://www.valleyzoo.ca/ for more information.

Canada Day at the Muttart Conservatory

Time: 11am – 5pm

Dominion Day at Fort Edmonton Park

Time: 10am – 6pm
Join the park-wide celebration of Dominion Day with a great variety show.  Emcee Paul Wallace will be on hand to entertain with magic, dancing, juggling, improv and humour.  A free shuttle will run from the South Campus LRT.  Avoid the line ups; buy your tickets online athttp://www.fortedmontonpark.ca/.

The Works Art & Design Festival in Churchill Square

Time: 11:30am – 9:30pm (until July 5)
Join the Celebrate Canada Day Workshop/Works Mosaic at The Works Art & Design Festival by creating your own Canadian masterpiece on July 1st from noon to 5 p.m.!

Cool Off on Canada Day

Spend time at a City of Edmonton recreation centre. Go for a swim, try out a waterslide or wave pool, fit in a workout, or just relax in a hot tub or steam room. Regular admission applies. For holiday hours visitRecreation Centres.

Silly Summer Parade

Time: Noon – 3:30pm
The annual Silly Summer Parade mixes Canada Day spirit with twisted humor and good old-fashion fun. The parade will start at Queen Alexandra School (7730-106 St.) heading west on Whyte Ave. to 108 St. and back to the school for the Picnic in the Park event.

Alberta Legislature Canada Day

Time: 7am – 7pm
Celebrate our nation’s birthday at the Alberta Legislature with live entertainment and a variety of free family activities.

Mill Woods Celebrates Canada Day

Time: 1 – 11pm
Come to Mill Woods Park (66 St. & 23 Ave.) and join in on the free family activities.  Fireworks display takes place at 11pm. 

Canada Day at Northlands Park (formerly Canada Day at Borden Park)

Time: Noon – 4pm
Location:  Infield Racetrack at Northlands Park, 7410 Borden Park Road
Come and join Councillor Tony Caterina and MLA Peter Sandhu as we celebrate Canada's birthday. Enjoy a fun-filled afternoon with free hotdogs, pop, cake, live entertainment and a variety of activities for the whole family. Free parking at Northlands.

Canada Day Fireworks Finale

Time: 11pm 
Enjoy the spectacular fireworks display over Edmonton’s river valley parks and the North Saskatchewan River.

• Ezio Faraone Park (west entrance to High Level Bridge on 109 St. north)
• Dantzer’s Hill (below Queen Elizabeth Park)

Viewing areas accessible on foot only (closed to vehicles):

• River Valley Road
• Walterdale Hill Road & Queen Elizabeth Park Road
• 109 St. (between Saskatchewan Drive & the High Level Bridge)
• Access is restricted in Kinsmen Park, Walterdale Hill, High Level & Menzies Bridges after road closure times. Kinsmen playground and picnic area are closed on Canada Day.

Synopsis:  Three are dead. Who is Number Four?

John Smith (Alex Pettyfer) is a fugitive on the run from ruthless enemies sent to destroy him. Changing his identity, moving from town to town with his guardian Henri (Timothy Olyphant), John is always the new kid with no ties to his past. In the small Ohio town he now calls home, John encounters unexpected, life-changing events—his first love (Dianna Agron), powerful new abilities and a connection to the others who share his incredible destiny.

Handsome, teenage dreamy Alex Pettyfer stars in this movie, that is full of visual and audio surprises, as he portrays alien fugitive, John Smith in I AM NUMBER FOUR.  Exiled from his home planet along with eight others, John tries to lie low but that's hard when you're a teenage boy in your sophomore year of high school.  Henri, Timothy Olyphant, is determined to protect him, even from himself; but when the alien hunters come looking for John, Number Four, it's either move again and hide or fight the battle. Number Four is just beginning to understand who he is and his potential.  Is he ready? 

Full of action, suspense and adventure aimed at the teenage and YA audiences, it is sure to have you on the edge of your seats, regardless of your age.  Move over vampires and werewolves, I Am Number Four has something more to offer.  This has box office hit all over it!

The rumour mill is churning about the possibility of five more movies to come.  I Am Number Four is based on the novel written by Pittacus Lore of the same name.  If you haven't yet read the book, you will want to after attending this movie!!
